From Thursday through Saturday I did four separate Zoom presentations and I enjoyed them all. But the one that I cannot let go of focused on the Rise and Fall of the Moors in Europe. So it is a beautiful spring day here in Los Angeles and I am enjoying the opportunity to continue to research.
What you see here in this collage are images that photographing are a priority for me. These Moorish archers are in the Fine Arts Museum in Dresden, Germany. They are about 300 years old. On my one day visit to Dresden in 2018 the museum was closed and so I am going to have to return, perhaps this autumn.
Now the best photo reference book is the multi-volume work Image of the Black in Western Art. Here is the cover of one of the volumes.
So my plan now is to do a larger and more comprehensive presentation on the Moors, much better than the one that I offered Saturday!!! So far I have about 250 really excellent original photos and I cannot wait to show them!!!
