Afrocentrip seeks to connect travellers with Black-owned businesses everywhere they go by providing a map of relevant Black-owned businesses across all continents. We encourage travellers, locals and businesses to contribute to its development.
Supporting Black businesses as we travel is not an act of charity, it’s an act of solidarity. It’s about recognising that Black people face systemic oppression, including structural economic disadvantages, everywhere in the world due to institutional racism, neocolonialism and predatory capitalism among other things. It's about taking a stand through the way we use our economic power as we wander the world.
It’s also self-serving: for us Black folks it can be a much welcome opportunity to meet fellow Black people in places where we don’t know anyone. We all know too well how just being in the presence of our own can be comforting and reassuring, in particular in places that are unfamiliar. And ultimately, learning about B
