Black Health Matters

MHCLG continues its programme of events celebrating Black History Month discussing topics that effect our communities. This event sheds light on health realities of our black community in the UK. It is not a political issue its humanity. We will have with us three organisations doing amazing work on health issue effecting the black community with us will be ACLT, FivexMore and Black Mind Matters.

About the speakers

ACLT

ACLT works to save lives through bone marrow blood and organ donation. It is a 40+ times award winning charity committed to providing hope to patients living with blood cancer and illnesses where a matched donor (stem cell, blood or organ) is required to save a life. Their work is driven by a belief that no one should die waiting for a donor to become available.

FivexMore

Black Women are 5 times more likely to die and FivexMore are working to find out why. They work to raise awareness on maternal disparities for black women in the UK supporting black mothers. FivexMore create resources and signpost them to useful resources should they need it.

Black Mind Matters

At Black Minds Matter U.K. their mission is to connect Black individuals and families with free professional mental health services across the U.K. they aim to do this by making mental health topics relevant and accessible for all Black people in the U.K.
