Enjoy a first listen to a superhero story from our new book! Sit back and relax as Claire reads to you from her story ‘The Stormbreaker of Saifect Bay’.

Claire L. Heuchan is an author, essayist, and award-winning blogger. In 2018 she co-authored What is Race? Who are Racists? Why Does Skin Colour Matter? And Other Big Questions with Nikesh Shukla. The Stormbreaker of Sairfecht Bay is her first children's short story

Writing on The Wall have a created a book of diverse short superhero stories and poems for children aged 7-11 years. The book has been created as part of our school’s project Superheroes: Words are our Power, in response to the lack of diversity in ethnicity and disability in literature for children.

The global Black Lives Matter protests that characterised our summer were truly inspirational. Black communities and anti-racists across the globe are demanding change. Writing on the Wall are proud to present their programme for Black History month featuring some of the most inspirational local, national and international black artists. For a full list of events go to https://www.wowfest.uk/

Superheroes: Words are our Power is funded by The Paul Hamlyn Foundation.
