Discover the fantastic collections available for researching Black British History and learn more about research techniques and challenges.

In this 2-hour workshop, History staff and postgraduate students at The University of Manchester will discuss their current projects, partnership with the Ahmed Iqbal Ullah Race Relations Resource Centre, archives at a local and national level, and how to conduct oral history interviews.

All welcome, and please book in advance.

Presenters:

• Xavier Banson, MA History student whose dissertation is entitled ‘Conflict and Community: Social and Cultural Interactions between African and Caribbean Populations in Black Britain, 1989-2010.’

• Zalirah Cooper, second year PhD student working on thesis entitled ‘Black British History in the North of England: 1970’s-1980’s.’

• Dr Eloise Moss, Senior Lecturer in Modern British History.

• Jessica White, third year PhD student working on thesis entitled ‘Motherhood, womanhood, and selfhood: constructing female identities in the inner city, 1970-2000.’
